Arturo Pereira was helping some of us to install NR2003 (I didn't, actually), and most guys commented that the feeling is very GPL-ish. I guess it should be an improvement from GPL both in physics and in features in general. The single concern I'd have is that, thought as a Nascar simulator, I'm not sure how works the flags system and if it allows starts "alla Formula 1" Also, it seems that the tracks in GPL, even being older and with less polished 3d display, received more dedication (love?) than in NR2003. The mods that were in developement when NR2003 code was bought by iRacing had to be cancelled. Remember the GTP mod. iRacing didn´t want the NR2003.exe code to be modified. We asked them what about GPL and they answered they were not interested in GPL code. So, to put it short, to start working with a GPL mod using NR2003.exe will be a complete waste of time since you won´t be able to modify the original code.

I have NR2003 installed and it has some improvements over GPL - native support for 60 fps (and for 120 too, if I am not mistaken), native widescreen without black bars, easy mod instalation - just copy & paste the files in the game folder.
The problem is, just like Arturo Pereira said, it's not allowed to modify the exe - so no custom mod physics. There are 2, (or maybe 3?), standard sets of physics for NR2003 and every mod uses one of them. A GPL mod will be just a graphics mod, a carset, using one of the physics sets. With that said, I personally would enjoy even this type of simple GPL mod for nr2003.
I saw a carset indycar USAC1973 for the NR2003 ,does anyone know it?
