We have no news, so I guess no one has managed to get Bill on the phone or mail.
The regular members who come to SRMZ are basically the same people who have signed up for this alternative forum. Could we not set up a payment system with a secure platform, as Paypal ? Each member would donate $10 every month.
A table would make it possible to see the real amount collected each month. This mandatory donation each month would allow for an long term solution .
If SRMZ returns, a highly visible sticky thread facilitating donations should, in my opinion, be discussed. The current system leaves donation to the goodwill of each member, and it shows that the amounts collected are insufficient.
We also have different financial resources, but considering the time spent at srmz, 10 USD each month is a very reasonable amount. With for example 50 donors agreeing for this amount, 500 USD would be collected every month. If not behind our PC, the time spent somewhere else everyday wld surely cost more than 10 USD ( Bar, restaurant, sport, shopping, petrol to move to see friend, relatives  ect.. Wink  )

I see there are 71 members here.If we have registered here, let suppose we don't want to lose SRMZ. Since we are alls at SRMZ and use it to our satisfaction, most of us are core and stable GPLers who wld contribute.

SRMZ and GPLR contain too much data and information, than at the moment, all others websites aren't, in my opinion,  an alternative.

 Any ideas are very welcome.

Hi Michel Smile

Can´t agree more. However, I am not sure what really happened with the sites. They could have been hacked, or perhaps the problem is money. Lét´s hope for the better.

Has anyone that has logged in here since this most recent 'down' been in contact with Bill ???
Hi Arturo, hi Greg

Greg, your question is the only good one at the moment. If Bill can't be contacted, we can fear the worst. Bill is a registered member at the GPL Alternative Forum. Is he Bill Cooper?
If not, will he post any info on any other GPL related site ? Crossing our fingers !

Yes, "Bill" is "Bill Cooper".

I don´t know how to contact him. Sad
How about some of our other old souls like Lee, Bob and ginetto?
Have any of you guys been in contact with Bill? If so, what is the issue that is causing this latest 'crash'?
It was Bo Bruce who contacted Bill when SRMZ had problems. But who can and know how now?
As far as I'm aware the only person with a direct link to Bill was Bruce (Bo Bruce - Very happy to be corrected on this). Sadly Bo passed away, so I think we are at the mercy of Bill trying to connect and finding the site is down. If, and I really hope it is the case. SRMZ is not dead I think Bill should be encouraged to join this forum and at the risk of offending him we should ensure any issues are not finance related. SRMZ is the hub of everything GPL and as Needforspeed suggested if I have to pay for the privilege of ensuring it's viability then I'm good with that.

Obviously I sincerely hope Bill is fine and SRMZ is recoverable but having a game approaching it's 25th birthday supported by a website who's admin is AWOL isn't sustainable. Not to mention all the league sites such as oAo, ADC etc also hosted on Bills domain plus of course the track database (Although Fastlane does have this covered - Again my undying thanks Paul)..

I remember the shockwaves within GTL when the Nogrip site disappeared without warning, but they had Trackaholics, Evolution Modding, Altbierbude to pick up the slack. We also have great sites dedicated to GPL. Lee's site, Fastlane, to name but two but no central GPL forum like SRMZ.

John.
.... And I can't imagine all ours proper topics and posts lost that where always quite easily found by a simple SRMZ fine search function. oh no !!

Repository contributors exchanges on so many useful and friendly topics ! Oh no !!

Ten days after this failure, there is a good chance Bill shld have at least once looked at SRMZ, unless he is very very busy ....

 Jonny,

 thanks .

by performing click without success on many links,  Sad seems SRMZ hosted most of them

meanwhile, thanks to Paul for the FASTLANE, Stefan and fortunatly the long list of others GPL website administrators still involved
Hard to believe nobody can get ahold of Bill.

We weren't prepared for this. I hope he's ok.
